Choosing Your Plan Manager

So, you’ve decided to go down the Plan Management path but you’re now stuck. How do you find a Plan Manager who gets you? What factors do you need to take into consideration when selecting a Plan Manager?

Our team at Bright Plan Management believe that finding the ideal Plan Manager allows you to take advantage of the full potential of your NDIS plan.

We’ve put together a checklist to help you figure out the best Plan Manager for your needs.

Determine your non-negotiables

Taking the first step in your NDIS journey is daunting, so it’s a great idea to take some time to figure out what you need from your Plan Manager. There are lots of aspects to consider.

Do they offer you choice and control? The NDIS plan is all about giving you autonomy over your services, so you want to make sure the Plan Manager priorities this.

Are they independent and experienced? You want unbiased and expert advice from your Plan Manager. If the Plan Manager is linked to another organisation, they may recommend certain supports over others which limits your control over your plan.

Can they promptly process your invoices? The main job of the plan manager is to manage the financial aspects of your plan, so you want to make sure that they have the capability to do this quickly and without issue. A two business day turnaround is a great marker for this.

Do they prioritise customer service? You want to be able to easily get into contact with your Plan Manager so it’s important that they offer you a number of channels of communication. You want to make sure that if you do get in contact, they have the time for a chat to understand your needs and offer quality advice?

Now, when looking into Plan Managers, compare them to this list. You’ll find it much easier knowing if a Plan Manager is right for you if you’ve already determined what’s important to you.

Do your research

For something as big as selecting the right plan manager for you, it’s a good idea to do some research to make sure you’re making an informed decision.

Google reviews are a great place to start, as is Clickability. Reading reviews from others on the service provided by the Plan Manager is a great way to gauge if they’re right for you and your needs.

Chatting to your Local Area Coordinator and other NDIS participants will also give you valuable insights into the Plan Manager to help make your decision.

Researching will allow you to make an informed decision and enlist the expertise of a Plan Manager suited to your needs.

Take your time

This is an important decision so it’s okay to take your time. You don’t want to rush into working with the first Plan Manager you come across.

Checking that the Plan Manager suits your needs and goals is imperative in getting the most out of your NDIS plan. Make sure all your questions are answered - and don’t be afraid to go back and ask more!

Here at Bright Plan Management, we know the importance of working with a Plan Manager who understands your needs and encourages your goals. Our priority is helping you utilise the full potential of your NDIS plan.
